One of the most relevant and influential 1970’s Punk Rock figures, Michael Geoffrey “Mick” Jones 26 June 1955 London, England. Mick Jones first gained a reputation as a guitarist in the early 1970’s, for The Deliquents. Shortly after, he met Tony James (later of Sigue Sigue Sputnik) and formed the proto-punk London SS. After the band broke up, he co-founded The Clash which went on to become one of the most important and influential Punk Rock bands of all times. With Rock hits that included “White Riot”, “Should I Stay Or Should I Go”, “London Calling” and “Rock The Casbah” among many others, The Clash defined one of the Punk Rock signature sounds of the late 1970’s and early 1980’s together with the Sex Pistols and the Ramones. Aside of being the lead guitarist and co-lead vocalist, Jones also was the main songwriter for The Clash until his dismissal in 1983. After leaving The Clash he formed several other bands and has been a very active musician and producer since. n 2002, he teamed up with his former London SS band mate, Tony James to form a new band named Carbon/Silicon. The band has toured the United Kingdom and the United States and has performed a number of anti-fascist benefit concerts and they have also recorded three albums. Mick Jones was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2003 as a member of The Clash. Today he turns 68.
