Ken Warren, an eye for beauty, a mind for knowledge

Kenneth Paul Warren II, the son of Kenneth Paul Warren and Donna Jeanine Jones, was born on February 27, 1983 in Greenville, North Carolina (though most of the times he’d say he was born in Washington, North Carolina). Kenneth co-founded the website Pop Expresso together with me, his husband David in 2017.  His love for all the things life could offer was endless, art, nature, laughing, friendship, love, beautiful places, and sometimes even other places where somehow, he could spot beauty, even if invisible to someone else’s eyes.
His knowledge for things as diverse as politics, music, cinema, art, geography and more, was endless. Most of the time self taught, Ken was creative and talented in many things, cooking, photography, management, writing and even house fixing. “I grew up in a farm” he used to say. Ken moved to Lisbon, Portugal in 2014, he fell in love for all the beauty and art the country had to offer for free, and it’s where we got married on June 19, 2017. In Europe we explored many places in Portugal, Spain and France. Ken always knew what was the right thing for the right person, and with Pop Expresso, he achieved to reach the right audience with whom he wanted to share his knowledge. Despite being a college student and working, Ken always found time to dedicate to Pop Expresso. Together we made this dream come true, the dream of wanting to share knowledge about Pop Culture with people across the world. Everytime we got a new follower, Ken always was grateful and happy. Ken loved David Bowie, he loved Billie Holiday, he loved Mama Cass, The Beatles, Queen, and so much more. Some of his favorite songs were “Sittin’On The Dock Of The Bay” by Otis Redding, “Drive In Saturday” by David Bowie, “Strange Fruit” by Billie Holiday, “Spread Your Wings” by Queen and “Dream A Little Dream Of Me” by Mama Cass. He loved animation, cartoons, and every Christmas we watched together the 1966 “Dr. Seuss The Grinch Who Stole Christmas”. He was an avid fan of “Bob’s Burgers”, “Bojack Horseman”, “Ricky And Morty”, “Family Dad” and his all time favorite “The Simpsons”. He was also a horror fan, specially classic horror and Halloween related. He loved Elvira and his favorite Halloween movie was the 1993 “Hocus Pocus”, which he proudly wrote about through a vdeo he made in 2018 sharing some facts about the movie.

Ken moved on to another plan, one where he will always be living, on December 24, 2018 in his beloved Lisbon, Portugal. I invite you to read some of Ken’s articles, there are many, but I’ve selected a few that I think are some of his best. I also invite you to take a look at Ken’s beautiful photography shot in the U.S, Portugal, Spain and France.
