The Metal legend Dave Mustaine turns 58

Trash and Heavy Metal legend Dave Mustaine is one of the most popular rockers worldwide, and one of the very few Metal musicians that has scored several hits on mainstream music charts for over three decades now. Mustaine, who was born on September 13, 1961 in La Mesa, California, started his career during the late 1970’s and in 1981 he joined Metallica as their lead guitarist. But the experience didn’t went well, despite co writting four songs that appears on their debut album “Kill’Em All” in 1983 and two other in the 1984 “Ride The Lightning”, his time in the band ended before the release of their 1983 debut album, reportedly due to Dave’s large problem with alcohol and drugs. In 1984 Mustaine formed his own band Megadeth, that eventually became one of the biggest forces of Heavy Metal till this day. The band released their debut album “Killing Is My Business… and Business Is Good!” in 1985, followed by a series of successful records and songs that included the 1986 Metal classic “Peace Sells… but Who’s Buying?”, “So Far, So Good… So What!” and “Rust in Peace”; and also the songs “Hangar 18”, “Holy Wars… The Punishment Due” and “Peace Sells”. The 1990’s brought Megadeth commercial success, starting with their best selling “Countdown to Extinction” in 1992 that featured the hit songs “Symphony of Destruction”, “Sweating Bullets” and “Foreclosure of a Dream”. During that same period the band also recorded original songs for blockbuster movies soundtracks including “Angry Again” for “The Last Action Hero”. The follow up to “Countdown to Extinction” was another commercial success, the 1994 “Youthanasia” that included the hits “A Tout Le Monde”and “Train of Consequences”. Throughout the rest of the 1990’s the band continued to indulge in a more commercial Metal sound, and successfully crossed into the new millenium, going back to their heavier roots. Megadeth’s latest album is the 2016 “Dystopia”, the band has touring worldwide frequently over the last years, after a forced stop in 2011 when Dave stated that was suffering from a neck and spine condition, known as stenosis, was caused by many years of headbanging. Recently, Mustaine shocked fans when on June 17, 2019 announced that he had been diagnosed with throat cancer but was going under treatment.
