At the Market Square Arena in Indianapolis for an audience of 18.000 people
The King Elvis Presley plays his last concert ever on this day in 1977
The 42 year old Elvis Presley, worshiped around the world by millions, played the Market Square Arena in Indianapolis on June 26, 1977 for an audience of 18.000 people who had no idea that for $15 only, this would be the last time ever they could witness Elvis Presley, The King Of Rock N’ Roll playing live. Though the concert began at 8:30 p.m., Elvis didn’t perform until 10 p.m. For about 80 minutes, The King sang both his classic tunes like “Jailhouse Rock” and “Hound Dog,” and his more somber numbers, like “Hurt” and a cover of Simon & Garfunkel’s “Bridge over Troubled Water.” He closed the concert with “Can’t Help Falling in Love with You”, telling the audience “We’ll meet you again, God bless, adios” as he left the stage. After, Elvis took a break from touring and returned home to Graceland. On August 16, 1977, The King was dead at age 42 from heart failure, caused by years of prescription drug abuse.
