David Duchovny turns 60
One of the most popular faces in movies and TV over the last 30 years, actor, writer, producer, director, novelist, and singer-songwriter, David Duchovny was born on August 7, 1960 in New York, and throughout his career he developed a signature acting style which resulted in a series of memorable characters. One of the first significant movies he starred was in the 1988 “Working Girl”, appearing in two scenes only, prior to that he appeared in an advertisement for Löwenbräu beer in 1987. During the 1990’s as he became increasingly popular he also was offered more important and lead roles. One of the first major ones was in “Twin Peaks” as Denise Bryson, a transgender DEA agent. But it’s with the hit series “The X-Files” that premiered in 1993, that Duchovny established himself as one of the most famous actors in the world, by playing the FBI agent Fox Mulder. After the successful show was over, he still returned to his role as Mulder in movies and most recently in 2016 in a six-episode continuation of “The X-Files”. During the 2000’s Duchovny also portrayed another memorable character, the sex addict writer Hank Moody in another successful TV series, “Californication”. Both roles, of Fox Mulder and Hank Moody, have earned him Golden Globe awards. Recently in 2016 he starred in the promising TV series “Aquarius” where he played another potential memorable character, a 1960’s police detective tracking down Charles Manson’s cult. Sadly, despite Duchovny’s performance, the series was cancelled after the first season. Today David Duchovny turns 60.
