The band was the American answer to the British Invasion
In 1964 The Beach Boys debut on The Ed Sullivan Show
After two successful years of hit singles and touring, and facing the British Invasion, the American band proved that they could be as good as the new Rock bands emerging from the other side of the Atlantic, on September 27, 1964 they performed “Wendy” and “I Get Around” on The Ed Sullivan Show, the now iconic performance presented The Beach Boys to a wider audience in the U.S. Shortly after the band started slowly to switch music directions into more experimental paths, in 1966 they release their masterpiece “Pet Sounds”, an album that among others, influenced The Beatles on the making of “Sgt. Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band”.
