In 1985, Duran Duran peak to No.1 with their James Bond theme “A View To A Kill”

Released on 6 May 1985, the James Bond movie theme “A View To A Kill” (titled the same as the movie) was Duran Duran’s 13th single. Written in collaboration with Bond composer John Barry, the song became one of the band’s biggest hits worldwide and it peaked to No.1 on the U.S Hot 100 on July 13, 1985. It remains the only James Bond theme song to have reached number 1 on the Hot 100, which makes it a milestone in Pop music. The composition proccess was made in a way that Duran Duran could be in charge of the actual songwriting and Barry creating the final arrangement including the orchestra part. In 1986, both Barry and Duran Duran were nominated for the Golden Globe Award for Best Original Song. “A View To A Kill” was performed at Live Aid in Philadelphia on the same day they peaked to No.1, their final performance together before their first split.
