Heart singer and guitarist Nancy Wilson turns 70 today

Nancy Lamoureaux Wilson was born in San Francisco, California on March 16, 1954. She moved to Seattle at an early age where later joined the band Heart with her sister Ann. On August 25, 1966, Nancy and her sister Ann, along with other bandmates, attended The Beatles concert at the Seattle Center Coliseum, an event both recalled as influential in their early life. She rose to fame alongside her sister Ann Wilson, as a guitarist and backing vocalist in the rock band Heart, which she joined in 1974. Heart became the first hard rock band fronted by women, they released numerous albums throughout the late 1970’s and 1980’s, beginning with “Dreamboat Annie” (1975), and “Little Queen” (1977), both of which generated chart singles such as “Magic Man,” “Crazy on You” and “Barracuda.” The band would have later commercial success, specifically with their albums, “Heart”, released in 1985 that included the hits “What About Love” and “These Dreams” and “Bad Animals”, released in 1987 that included the smash hit “Alone”. Over the duration of their career, Heart has sold over 35 million records. In late 2016, Wilson formed a band called Roadcase Royale with former Prince band member and R&B singer Liv Warfield. The band signed with Loud and Proud records in 2017 and released their debut full-length album “First Things First” on September 2017. Today she turns 70.
