Top 10 songs of the unique Stevie Nicks
Stephanie Lynn Nicks, known to the world as Stevie Nicks aka “The White Witch”, remains one of the most influential Rock singers of all time. Being as part of Fleetwood Mac or as a solo artist, her distinctive vocals, charisma and charm, have been gracing the music world over the last 40 years. She was born on May 26, 1948 in Phoenix, Arizona and turns 73 today. Nicks first met her future musical and romantic partner, Lindsey Buckingham, during her senior year in high school, and both became one of Rock’s most famous couples, together, they lived all the 1970’s Rock Star’s excesses, and was a one of the catalysts for Nick’s infamous drug abuse. Reportedly, she got to a point where she had to snort cocaine through her anus due to having the nose too damaged. Her drug use allegedly cost her a large part of her fortune, and lead her to sell houses and properties that she owned. Her professional music career started back in the 1960’s, when in 1967 she joined Buckingham’s Psychedelic Rock band Fritz. The band became popular as a live act when it opened for both Jimi Hendrix and Janis Joplin from 1968 until 1971. In 1973, after disbanding Fritz, the pair released the album “Buckingham Nicks” and soon after, both were recruited to join British band Fleetwood Mac. Also one of Rock’s most recognizable and iconic figures, Stevie Nicks has maintained the same mystic look and style over the years, she has been known for her multiple wardrobe changes during live performances, almost having a new outfit for each song she sang. Nicks’ first solo album, “Bella Donna”, was released on July 27, 1981, to critical and commercial acclaim, reaching number one on the Billboard 200 chart, with four singles making the Billboard Hot 100, including the now classic “Edge Of Seventeen”, and Rolling Stone deeming her “the Reigning Queen of Rock and Roll. Her songwriting skills puts her among the 100 Greatest Songwriters of All Time according to the Rolling Stone magazine. Among her career achievements, she was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1998 as a member of Fleetwood Mac, she also has garnered eight Grammy Award nominations and two American Music Award nominations as a solo artist. She has won numerous awards with Fleetwood Mac, including a Grammy Award and five Grammy Award nominations. In 2014, Nicks appeared on the third season of television series American Horror Story titled “Coven”. She played a fictional version of herself, portraying a “white witch” with supernatural powers in two episodes. On the show, she performed the songs “Rhiannon”, “Has Anyone Ever Written Anything For You?”, and “Seven Wonders”. Stevie Nick’s body of work includes the albums “Bella Donna” from 1981, “Rock a Little” from 1985, and also with Fleetwood Mac the 1975 self-titled “Fleetwood Mac”, 1977 “Rumours”, 1978 “Tusk”, 1982 “Mirage” and 1987 “Tango In The Night” among many others.
