Olivia Newton-John was born on September 26th, 1948 in Cambridge, England. Though she is mostly known for her late 1970’s and early 1980’s work as an actress and pop singer, Olivia’s career during the whole 70’s decade was pretty much active and busy. She had several singles released charting on the U.S Hot 100. In 1974 she represented the U.K on the Eurovision Song Contest with the song “Long Live Love”, however that year were the Swedish ABBA who won the contest with “Waterloo”. Olivia became a well known name from the general public when together with John Travolta starred in the 1978 musical film “Grease”. The chemistry of the pair together contributed to the success of the highly influential movie. The soundtrack gave Olivia her first worldwide hits with songs such as “You’re the One That I Want” and “Summer Nights” in duet with Travolta, In 1981 she released the smash hit “Physical” that together with the iconic music video earned Olivia ten weeks atop the Billboard Hot 100 and became her signature song. “Physical” is often regarded as one of the top 1980’s songs representing the decade’s obsession with fitness and looks. This would be the last time Olivia-Newton John enjoyed worldwide success with a solo song. Over the years Olivia-Newton John struggled with cancer several times, she She died peacefully on August 8th at her California ranch surrounded by family and friends at age 73.
