Whitesnake’s “Here I Go Again” hits No.1 on Hot 100 in 1987



Whitesnake successful transition into the late 1980’s Hard Rock scene reached it’s peak on October 10th, 1987 when “Here I Go Again” hits No.1 on the U.S Hot 100. The song,  written by David Coverdale and Bernie Marsdenwas, was originally recorded for Whitesnake’s 1982 album “Saints & Sinners”, but it was with the 1987 version released on their album “Whitesnake” that turned out to be the most famous and popular one, though as a single in the U.S, it was released with different musicians and arrangements. “Here I Go Again” was a worldwide hit, together with another ballad from the band “Is This Love”, establishing Whitesnake as one of the top Rock bands from the 1980’s. Whitesnake were formed by David Coverdale in 1978 soon after he left Deep Purple, where he was the lead singer from 1973 to 1976.
