A Brief Overlook on Rod Stewart’s career
One of the best-selling music artists of all time with over 120 million records sold worldwide, Rod Stewart was born in London, England on January 10, 1945. Stewart’s career started back in the 1960’s, as part of the London music scene, joining in 1964 the British Rock/Blues super-group Long John Baldry and the All Stars put together by Baldry, other musicians that also were part of the project were Jimmy Page, Mick Jagger and Eric Clapton among many others. In 1969 he released his debut solo album “An Old Raincoat Won’t Ever Let You Down”, but it was as part of The Jeff Beck Group during the early 1970’s and shortly after, as the lead singer of The Faces that Stewart became worldwide famous, alongside the future Stone Ronnie Wood. After leaving The Faces he started a very successful solo career that endures to this day, with early successful singles such as “Sailing” and “I Don’t Want to Talk About It”. During the late 1970’s throughout the early 1980’s, Stewart put aside his Rock origins and opted for the then trendy New Wave Pop music style, releasing a string of hit singles that started in 1978 with the disco-flavored Da Ya Think I’m Sexy? and the 1981 New Wave “Young Turks”. As the 1990’s approached, Stewart changed again his music direction, the same one that endures to this day, as a soft-rock artist. Among some of his accomplishments are 16 top ten singles in the US, with four reaching #1 on the Billboard Hot 100, nine number one albums and two inductions to into the US Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, the first as a solo artist in 1994 and the second in 2006 as a member of The Faces.
