Remembering Wes Craven genius
Wes Craven was born in Cleveland, Ohio on August 2nd 1939 and passed away in Los Angeles, California on August 30th, 2015. Called by many the “Master of Horror” for his success and cultural impact in the horror film genre what is a less known fact is that he actually, as told by him on camera, made “many hard core X-rated films” under pseudonyms due to be more lucrative back in the 60’s and 70’s. Craven specialized in the “slasher” genre, he had a long and productive career filled with hits such as “The Last House on the Left”1972, “The Hills Have Eyes” 1977, “A Nightmare on Elm Street” 1984 his more iconic movie and the one he is still much associated with, in the 90’s he did “Scream” 1996. Craven was also a Rock music fan, he had a letter published in the July 19, 1968 edition of Life magazine, praising that periodical’s coverage of contemporary rock music, in particular Frank Zappa’s. In 2008 he designed the Halloween logo for Google. He created worlds of fantasy and fear that made us all never want to sleep again and still permeate our pop culture landscape today.
