The legendary Bruce Dickinson turns 65: Check 10 of the best Iron Maiden songs

With his wide-ranging operatic vocal style and energetic stage presence, Bruce Dickinson wrote his name in the history of Rock and Heavy Metal. The multi-talented British artist, singer, songwriter, musician, author and also airline pilot, entrepreneur and broadcaster, was born Paul Bruce Dickinson in Worksop, England on August 7, 1958.
During the late 1970’s he became one of the biggest vocal assets in the New Wave Of British Heavy Metal when he joined Samson as the lead singer using the name Bruce Bruce. Dickinson recorded two albums with the band, but quit in 1981 to join the increasingly successful and growing Heavy Metal band Iron Maiden. By then, the band was already established as one of the most important in the Heavy Metal scene with their first two albums “Iron Maiden” and “Killers”. After firing their original lead singer Paul Di’Anno due to internal feud, Dickinson was chosen as the new lead singer. The role gave him quickly a wider and bigger visibility and audience than Samson.
His recognizable vocals matched perfectly with Iron Maiden’s sound, and by the time the band released their third album (which was Bruce’s debut) “The Number of the Beast” in 1982, the huge Iron Maiden’s fan base already had forgotten the original lead singer and praising the choice of Dickinson to lead the band. Throughout the 1980’s Iron Maiden released some of the best Heavy Metal albums of the decade, scoring hit after hit, developing a signature sound, together with Bruce Dickinson’s vocals, that not only pleased their main Metal audience but also the average Rock music fan, with some of their songs becoming overall Rock classics. When in 1993 Bruce Dickinson left Iron Maiden to pursue a solo career wich saw some highlights, mainly with the release of his album “Balls To Picasso” in 1994, most fans were left devastated, but 6 years later in 1999 he returned to front it and over the last 20 years the band’s classic line up hasn’t suffered too many drastic changes. Bruce Dickinson also notably is known as a airline pilot, one of his main passions, and aside of singing, also composes and has published books. A multi talented man who’s now a Rock legend, Bruce Dickinson turns 65 today. Here’s 10 essential Iron Maiden songs featuring Bruce Dickinson on vocals
