The Robert De Niro Top 10 Movies

A brilliant and acclaimed actor, Robert De Niro has written several pages in movie history since the 1970’s when he first got noticed with his memorable role of the young Vito Corleone in the 1974 “The Godfather Part II” which earned him an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor.Since then he has played pivotal roles in movies such as “Taxi Driver”, “Raging Bull” (which earned him the Academy award for Best Actor in 1980) and “Cape Fear”. He was born Robert Anthony De Niro Jr.on August 17, 1943 in New York City. Raised Catholic, De Niro usually tries to step down from roles that directly involves religion, and doesn’t likes to publicly speak about religion neither, he did turned down the role of Jesus Christ on the movie “The Last Temptation Of Christ” directed by his friend and director of many of his movies, Martin Scorcese, but he did played a Catholic penitent on the 1980’s blockbuster “The Mission”. recently he received an Italian passport, which grants him Italian citizenship, despite strong opposition by the Sons of Italy, who believe that De Niro damaged the public image of Italians by portraying criminals. But he does portrays them like no other! De Niro is also a political activist, and in recent years, he has been more outspoken and “enraged” than ever with the current U.S political situation. During the 2016 presidential campaign, De Niro was an outspoken critic of then-Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump, calling him “so blatantly stupid” and stating, “He wants to punch people in the face?! I’d like to punch him in the face.” This was in reference to the similar desire Trump expressed towards protesters at one of his rallies. On June 10, 2018, while introducing a performance by Bruce Springsteen of his song “My Hometown” at the 72nd Tony Awards, De Niro brought the audience to a standing ovation with this denunciation of President Trump: “I’m gonna say one thing. Fuck Trump. It’s no longer “down with Trump”. It’s “fuck Trump”, and a day later, in front of a crowd in Toronto, he apologized to Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau for President Trump’s “idiotic behavior”.
