Over the last two decades Jack Black became one of the most successful and in demand actors of Hollywood, being almost certain to guarantee a box-office success with his name on the bill. Jack Black was born on August 28, 1969 in Santa Monica, California. His first acting gig was in a TV commercial at the age of 13 in 1982 for the video game “Pitfall!”. During the 1990’s Black starred in several minor roles of hit TV shows and movies, which caught the eye of the movie industry. Among some of the TV shows he starred are “Picket Fences”, “The X-Files”, “Life Goes On” and “Northern Exposure” among many others; in the big screen he had roles in “Demolition Man”, “Waterworld”, “The Cable Guy”, “Mars Attacks!” and “Dead Man Walking” among several others. It was during the early 2000’s that his career as a lead actor took off. His first big role was in the 2000 movie “High Fidelity” and throughout the years he starred in movies such as “Bernie”, “Be Kind Rewind”, “King Kong” and “Shallow Hal” among countless others, including his signature role in the 2003 “School of Rock”, which earned him Golden Globe nominations, and an induction into Hollywood’s Walk of Fame in 2018. Jack Black also is a musician and for years has been one of former Nirvana and Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl buddies, starring in some Foo Fighters music videos and Grohl also starring in Black’s projects such as the 2006 “Tenacious D in The Pick of Destiny”. His best known music project is the comedy rock duo Tenacious D together with his friend Kyle Gass, that he formed in 1994. Tenacious D were awarded a Grammy in 2015 for Best Metal Performance at the 57th Grammy Awards for the song “The Last in Line”, a Dio cover released on “Ronnie James Dio – This Is Your Life” tribute album.
