During the 1980’s, 1960’s and 1970’s Rock legend Steve Winwood was trying to build his solid solo career, and was doing so by going into a Pop music direction, that were the opposite of what he had done in the previous decades, in bands such as Blind Faith and The Spencer Davis Group. Having scored a hit song in 1982 with “Valerie”, Winwood charted for the first time at the US Hot 100 on August 30, 1986 with “Higher Love”, released on June 20, 1986 backed with “And I Go”. The song was included in his album “Back in the High Life” and featured Chaka Khan as the back vocalist, featured also on the music video. It’s one of Steve Winwood’s most popular solo songs ever, but his legend status remains solidified by his 1960’s and 1970’s career.
