Film score composer Hans Zimmer turns 66
The German composer Hans Zimmer is a well known name from movie lovers across the world, he has produced, performed and composed countless film scores since the 1980’s, but Zimmer, who was born in Frankfurt, West Germany on September 12, 1957, started his career as a musician for new wave bands during the 1970’s, playin keyboards and synthesizers, notably as part of Buggles, who had the 1979 smash hit “Video Killed the Radio Star”, which it’s music video features Hans Zimmer. However, his love for film scores, notably those of Ennio Morricone, changed Hans Zimmer music career direction. Zimmer has cited “Once Upon a Time in the West” Morricone’s score as the one that inspired him, and that carer direction turning point happened with the 1988 film “Rain Man”. After that, Zimmer became, perhaps, the most requested film score composer in Hollywood, and since then, he has composed music for over 150 films, including “The Lion King”, for which he won the Academy Award for Best Original Score in 1995, the “Pirates of the Caribbean” series, “Interstellar”, “Gladiator”, “Inception”, “The Dark Knight” Trilogy. Overall, among the most important recognition’s, Zimmer has received four Grammy Awards, three Classical BRIT Awards, two Golden Globes, and an Academy Award. Today he turns 66.
