Top 10 Autumn Songs

All the leaves from the trees and plants change into multi-colored works of art and fall away. It creates bare, and vulnerable branches, revealing the true scenery underneath. From warm apple cider to pumpkin spice latte, and camping trips, there are so many reasons to enjoy fall. Autumn is my favorite season, is it yours? Here are 10  songs we’ve gathered together that will bring out the Autumn lover in you.

“Autumn Almanac” The Kinks, 1967

This song by The Kinks is included on their album “Autumn Almanac” appropriately released on October 13th, 1967. It’s an absolute classic and our choice to lead the list

“November Rain” Guns N’ Roses, 1991

Released on “Use Your Illusion I” in September 1991, this Guns N’ Roses classic and epic, it’s a must be on any autumn songs list

“The Autumn Stone” The Small Faces, 1969

Best known for songs such as “Itchykoo Park”, The Small Faces released “The Autumn Stone” in November 1969 on their album “The Autumn Stone”

“Les Feuilles Mortes” Yves Montand, 1946

Originally a 1945 French song, “Les Feuilles mortes” (literally “The Dead Leaves”), Yves Montand (with Irène Joachim) introduced it’s most popular version “Les feuilles mortes” in the film “Les Portes de la nuit”

“Autumn Leaves” Nat King Cole, 1955

9 years after Yves Montand’s french original version, Nat King Cole scored a hit with his own english version which was featured on the 1956 movie “The Autumn Leaves” starring Joan Crawford

“Autumn in New York” Billie Holiday, 1952

A 1934 jazz standard composed by Vernon Duke in 1934 for the Broadway musical Thumbs Up!, Billie Holiday recorded one of it’s most famous versions in 1952

“Summer’s Almost Gone” The Doors, 1968

Released on their third album “Waiting For The Sun” in 1968, this Doors song tells about the end of Summer and the coming of colder days

“Last Days Of Summer” The Cure, 2000

The Cure released this song on their 2000 album “Bloodflowers” and the mood of the song involves the listener in the Autumn passion

“Leaves That Are Green”, Simon & Garfunkel, 1966

Simon & Garfunkel have a good batch of autumn feeling songs, our choice for this list is “Leaves That Are Green” from their 1966 album “Sounds Of Silence”

“Dance Me To The End Of Love” Leonard Cohen, 1984

Released on his 1984 album “Various Positions”, “Dance Me To The End Of Love” it’s one of Leonard Cohen’s classics, the deep vocals, and lyrics of the singer-songwriter are the best soundtrack for Autumn
