Iconic “Crocodile Dundee” Paul Hogan turns 84 today
Paul Hogan was born October 8, 1939, in Lightning Ridge, New South Wales, Australia. He is a comedian and actor who rose to prominence in Australia during the early 1970’s after an interview on “A Current Affair” and followed it with his own comedy sketch program “The Paul Hogan Show,” which he produced, wrote and played characters. The show ran for 60 episodes between 1973 and 1984. He was named Australian of the Year in 1985 and received the award Member of the Order of Australia (AM) “For service to tourism and entertainment” in 1986. He is best known for his role as Michael J.”Crocodile” Dundee in “Crocodile Dundee,” for which he won a Golden Globe award for his performance, and was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay. Hogan would go on to star in two more films featuring the character, which made the actor an international star. He also appeared in various films like “Anzacs,” “Almost an Angel,” “Charlie & Boots” and “Adam Hills Tonight.” Hogan married his Crocodile Dundee co-star Linda Kozlowski in 1990. He has five children with his first wife and one with Kozlowski. On July 23, 2014, Kozlowski divorced Hogan, citing irreconcilable differences. In 2016 Hogan received the Longford Lyell Award, the highest honor of the Australian Academy of Cinema and Television Arts (AACTA), for outstanding services to the Australian screen. Recently he starred on “The Very Excellent Mr. Dundee” in 2020 alongside Chevy Chase.
