Pop Princess Britney Spears turns 42 today
Britney Spears was born on December 2, 1981, in McComb, Mississippi, and raised in Kentwood, Louisiana. For nearly two decades, she has been one of the most successful and sometimes controversial solo acts in popular music. She starred in The All-New Mickey Mouse Club at age 11 and began a highly successful career as a pop singer and performer with the release of the single “…Baby One More Time” in 1998. Spears achieved massive sales with albums like “Oops!… I Did It Again” and “Britney”, before experiencing a series of personal and professional setbacks. In 2004, Spears became engaged and would marry her backup dancer Kevin Federline. She and her husband announced that they were expecting their first child together in April 2005. “I find being pregnant empowering. I think it brings out a pure side of you,” Spears told People magazine. In September 2006, Spears and Federline had a new addition to their young family with the birth of their second son together. But Spears made a surprising move two months later when she filed for divorce, claiming “irreconcilable differences.” In January 2008 Spears appeared to have a psychiatric breakdown. She was taken to the hospital for evaluation when she refused to return her sons to their father after a court-appointed visit. While in the hospital, Spears father went to court and obtained control over Spears’s personal, professional and medical matters. She rebounded in late 2008 with the release of her next album, Circus, which rose to the top of the charts thanks in large part to the success of her No. 1 single “Womanizer.” Britney Spears, performed at The AXIS auditorium located in the Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada. The show had its opening night on December 27, 2013. In 2015, Spears extended her contract with Planet Hollywood through 2017. She serves as one of the few artists in history to have a number one single and studio album in each of the three decades of their career, the 1990’s, the 2000’s, and 2010’s. The Pop Princess has sold over 100 million records worldwide and more than 28.6 million digital singles in the United States, making her one of the best-selling music artists of all time.

Jamie Spears had been suspended as conservator of her estate in late September, after she accused him of exploiting her.
