Christmas On Earth Continued featured an All Star line up that shockingly didn’t had the expected attendance

On this day in 1967 one of the most legendary Christmas parties for Rock fans took place in London

On December 22nd, 1967, what now seems like something that comes straight out of a Fantasy Festival, actually took place in London at the Olympia. The event “Christmas On Earth Continued” might be one of the most legendary Christmas parties for Rock fans, on the same night, it gathered together The Jimi Hendrix Experience, Pink Floyd (last concert played with Syd Barret), Soft Machine, Traffic (replacing The Who that had to cancel), Eric Burdon and The Animals, The Move and even a taste of Queen with the band 1984 featuring young guitarist Brian May. The cherry on the top of the cake of this party was the DJ, John Peel himself, playing music for the attendants.  Despite all this, the attendance was not enough for a movie of the party to be made,  a “particularly severe winter freeze” meant sparse attendance and “financial disaster for the organizers.” The price of the tickets for all this? A now ridiculous almost comic value of £1. The surviving footage isn’t unfortunately on the best quality, but, you can take a peak at one of the highlights of that legendary evening on the video bellow.
