The singer songwriter, former Italian Top Model and France’s First Lady Carla Bruni celebrates 56

Born in Turin, Italy on December 23, 1967, Carla Bruni, the Italian top model who became France’s First Lady, was part of 1990’s supermodel pack that included Claudia Schiffer, Cindy Crawford, Naomi Campbell and Linda Evangelista among others. After a successful ten year row as a Top Model, Carla Bruni became a singer-songwriter and her debut album “Quelqu’un m’a dit” was released in 2002. The album sold well, favored by critics, helped by Bruni’s distinctive mellow voice. She has also composed songs for other artists such as Julian Clerc and released her latest album in 2017. In 2008 Carla Bruni became the First Lady of France when she married the controversial president Nicolas Sarkozy, and, despite her husband being a right wing politician,Bruni stated in 2007 during the French Presidential Election that she would have voted for Ségolène Royal who was running against her future husband, however, the lack of French Citizenship at the time, disallowed her from voting but she would have voted left wing due to it being family tradition.  But before dating politicians, Carla Bruni dated some very notable Rock Stars, Eric Clapton and Mick Jagger. Bruni met Jagger when she was dating Eric Clapton during the early 90’s, and fell in love for the Stone’s legend charms, despite him being a married man at the time. According to one of her biographies, the model was so ‘hopelessly stuck’ Jagger that she traveled to Thailand with him just a day after his wife Jerry Hall gave birth to their daughter Georgia. The relationship lasted for a while but the couple eventually went different ways and Bruni married the younger Raphael Enthoven with whom she had a son in 2001. In 2017 Carla Bruni released her Rolling Stones cover of the song “Miss You”, and the question imposes, is it a wink (or not) to her old flame? But today her wild days seems to have mellowed down and Carla Bruni who turns 56, lives a stable marriage with Nicolas Sarkozy.
