Influential photographer Francesco Scavullo was born on this day in 1921



Acknowledged to be the dominant photographic influence on American fashion and beauty, Francesco Scavullo was born Jan. 16, 1921, Staten Island, N.Y. and died Jan. 6, 2004, New York, N.Y… Scavullo focused on sexuality and glamour, over the course of a half-century career, more than 30 years of which were spent shooting “Cosmo girl” covers for Cosmopolitan magazine. His photographs also graced the covers of magazines such as Rolling Stone, Life, Time, Town & Country, Harper’s Bazaar, Vogue, Mademoiselle, Glamour, and many more.
