On January 20th, 1988, on the third edition of the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame ceremony, The Beatles were inducted by Mick Jagger, making them one of the first generation inductees. George Harrison, Ringo Starr and Yoko, Sean, and Julian Lennon were all present at the ceremony, however, Paul McCartney’s decision to be absent from it, and opted instead to send a letter stating that continuing business differences with the other ex-Beatles was the reason for his absence. The ongoing disputes over Apple were the main reason for his absence, and as published by the New York Times, Paul explains why he did not attend: “I was keen to go to (the dinner) and pick up my award, but after 20 years the Beatles still have some business differences which I had hoped would have been settled by now. Unfortunately, they haven’t been (settled), so I would feel like a complete hypocrite waving and smiling with (Harrison and Starr) at a fake reunion.” Years later in 2015, McCartney inducted Ringo Starr into the Hall, and before that there was a semi-reunion of sorts when Paul, George, and Ringo all played together on George’s tribute to John “All Those Years Ago”, also during the early to mid 1990’s, George, Paul and Ringo were in good and tight relations with each other and worked together on compiling “The Beatles Anthology” albums as well as recording new music for two John Lennon unreleased songs featuring his vocals, “Free As A Bird” and “Real Love”
