A Brief Overlook on Vanessa Redgrave’s life and career
A member of the Redgrave family of actors, the daughter of Sir Michael Redgrave, Vanessa Redgrave was born in London, England on January 30, 1937. Redgrave came to prominence during the early 1960’s playing Rosalind in the Shakespeare comedy As You Like It with the Royal Shakespeare Company. Primarily a stage actress, Redgrave achieved international success during the mid 1960’s when she started to appeared in films such as the 1977 “Julia” which earned her the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress. Overall she’s a six-time Oscar nominee for the films “Morgan: A Suitable Case for Treatment” (1966), “Isadora” (1968), “Mary, Queen of Scots” (1971), “The Bostonians” (1984), and “Howards End” (1992). Among her other well known films are “A Man for All Seasons” (1966), “Blowup” (1966), “Camelot” (1967), “The Devils” (1971), “Murder on the Orient Express” (1974) and “Mission: Impossible” (1996). Vanessa Redgrave, proclaimed by Arthur Miller and Tennessee Williams as “the greatest living actress of our times”, has always lived her life discretely and describes herself as a person of faith, attending a Catholic church. Turning 87 today, her latest movie was the 2019 “Mrs Lowry & Son”.
