Based on a line in the Sherman Brothers’ song “You’re Sixteen”, “Get Outta My Dreams, Get Into My Car” remains one of Billy Ocean’s most popular songs. Written by Billy Ocean and Robert John “Mutt” Lange who also produced it, was also featured on the soundtrack of the 1988 film “License to Drive”, it reached No.1 on the US Hot 100 on April 9, 1988 and marked the end of Ocean’s 1980’s string of hits that included “Caribbean Queen (No More Love on the Run)”, “Loverboy” and “When the Going Gets Tough, the Tough Get Going”. “Get Outta My Dreams, Get Into My Car” was a worldwide success and it’s now regarded as a truly 1980’s Pop music classic.
