The timeless “Queen of Pinups” Bettie Page

Betty Mae Page was born in Nashville, Tennessee April 22, 1923. She rose to fame during the 1950’s for her pin-up photos that remain popular to this day. Often referred to as the “Queen of Pinups”, her shoulder-length jet-black hair, blue eyes, and trademark fringe remain a strong influence on artists and younger generations, and more than ever she’s a strong and solid Pop culture icon worldwide. Page also worked as an actress and she appears in the 1950’s movies and documentaries “Striporama”, “Varietease” and “Teaserama”. She also modeled for Playboy and was “Miss January 1955”, one of the earliest Playmates of the Month. Unfortunately Page’s latter life was marked by depression, violent mood swings, and several years in a state psychiatric hospital suffering from paranoid schizophrenia. She passed on December 11, 2008 at age 85. We remember her at her very best, as the eternal Queen of Pinups on these series of photos, some iconic.
