The actress Candice Bergen turns 78 today

Known for her versatility, charm, and wit, the iconic actress Candice Bergen was born on May 9, 1946, in Beverly Hills, California.  Bergen’s acting career began in the 1960s, but it was her role as the titular character in the hit TV series “Murphy Brown” that catapulted her to stardom in the 1980s. As the sharp-witted and fiercely independent investigative journalist, Bergen earned critical acclaim and numerous awards, including five Primetime Emmy Awards and two Golden Globe Awards. “Murphy Brown” not only showcased Bergen’s comedic timing but also her ability to tackle important social and political issues of the time.
