Top 10 Creedence Clearwater Revival Songs

John Cameron Fogerty was born in Berkeley, California on May 28, 1945. Creedence Clearwater Revival was first formed in 1959 by John with his high school friends Stu, Doug and his brother Tom as the Blue Velvets. It wasn’t up until 1967 that they changed their name to Creedence Clearwater Revival. With their original line up John Fogerty, Tom Fogerty, Doug Clifford and Stu, Creedence Clearwater Revival released 7 studio albums between 1968 and 1972, all regarded as timeless Rock classics. Despite their San Francisco Bay Area origins, they played in a Southern rock style, with lyrics about bayous, catfish, the Mississippi River, and other popular elements of Southern United States iconography, as well as political and socially conscious lyrics about topics including the Vietnam War. Their blend of Country, Folk and Southern music with the West Coast Psychedelic sounds, made them unique at the time. Creedence Clearwater Revival disbanded in late 1972 after some internal feud, mainly among the members of the band and John Fogerty. Stu Cook and Doug Clifford later reformed the band Creedence Clearwater Revisited in 1995 that remains active playing the original songs from Creedence Clearwater Revival, while John Fogerty also tours under his own name playing the original CCR songs. John Fogerty, who turns 79 today, was inducted into the Rock N’ Roll Hall Of Fame in 1993 as a member of Creedence Clearwater Revival.
