The Canadian singer-songwriter Corey Hart, was born on May 31, 1962, in Montreal, Quebec. Known for his distinctive voice and catchy pop-rock hits, Hart became an international sensation in the 1980s with his memorable songs and charismatic performances.
Corey Hart displayed musical talent from a young age, performing in talent shows and recording demos as a teenager. His big break came when he was discovered by producer Billy Joel, who offered him a recording contract. Hart’s debut album, “First Offense,” was released in 1983, and it quickly propelled him to stardom. The album’s lead single, “Sunglasses at Night,” became a massive hit, reaching the top 10 on the Billboard Hot 100 and becoming a defining anthem of the 1980s.
Following the success of “First Offense,” Hart released “Boy in the Box” in 1985, which included his biggest hit, “Never Surrender.” The song topped the Canadian charts and reached number three on the Billboard Hot 100, earning Hart a Juno Award for Single of the Year. His subsequent albums, “Fields of Fire” and “Young Man Running,” continued to showcase his songwriting talent and vocal prowess during the 1980’s.
In the 1990s, Corey Hart’s popularity waned in North America, but he remained a beloved figure in Canada and enjoyed continued success in other international markets. He released several more albums, including “Bang!” (1990), which featured the hit single “A Little Love,” and “Jade” (1998).
After taking a hiatus from recording and touring in the early 2000s to focus on his family, Corey Hart returned to the music scene with renewed energy. In 2014, he released the album “Ten Thousand Horses” and embarked on a farewell tour, which was later extended due to popular demand. Hart’s contributions to music were recognized in 2019 when he was inducted into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame during the Juno Awards.
Hart continues to engage with his fans through live performances and social media, maintaining a strong presence in the music industry.
Corey Hart is married to fellow Canadian singer Julie Masse, with whom he has four children. The couple resides in the Bahamas, where they focus on their family life and various philanthropic endeavors. Hart is known for his dedication to charitable causes, particularly those related to children’s health and education.
