Released as a single on April 13, 1979, and produced by Giorgio Moroder, “Hot Stuff” by Donna Summer marked a changing in her musical direction towards a more Rock sound after the string of Disco hits she had during the late 1970’s. The song, that included a guitar solo by ex-Doobie Brother and Steely Dan guitarist Jeff “Skunk” Baxter, won Summer the Grammy Award for Best Female Rock Vocal Performance in the inaugural year the award was given out. It peaked to No.1 on the Hot 100 on June 2, 1979, remaining at the top position for three non-consecutive weeks. It also was the song to spent the longest time in the top ten in 1979, fourteen weeks, and the seventh biggest song of 1979 in the US. Donna Summer’s string of hit singles includes “Could It Be Magic”, “I Feel Love”, “Love to Love You Baby”, “Bad Girls”, “No More Tears (Enough Is Enough)”, “On the Radio” and “She Works Hard for the Money”. Donna Summer passed away in 2012 aged 63.
