The actress, producer, and director Courteney Bass Cox, was born on June 15, 1964, in Birmingham, Alabama. Cox grew up in Mountain Brook, Alabama, and attended Mountain Brook High School. After high school, she studied architecture at Mount Vernon College in Washington, D.C., but decided to pursue a career in acting instead. She moved to New York City, where she began her career as a model and actress, landing her first major role in 1984 in Bruce Springsteen’s music video for “Dancing in the Dark.”
Her breakthrough role came in 1994 when she was cast as Monica Geller on the NBC sitcom “Friends.” The show, which ran for ten seasons until 2004, became one of the most popular and beloved television series of all time. Cox’s portrayal of the neurotic yet lovable Monica earned her critical acclaim and a massive fan following. The ensemble cast of “Friends” became cultural icons, and the show remains a significant part of television history.
In addition to “Friends,” Courteney Cox has had a successful film career. She starred in the “Scream” film series (1996-2011) as Gale Weathers, a role that showcased her ability to transition between comedy and horror. Courteney Cox married actor David Arquette in 1999, and they have a daughter, Coco Arquette, born in 2004. The couple separated in 2010 and finalized their divorce in 2013. Despite their separation, Cox and Arquette have maintained a friendly relationship and co-parent their daughter.
Cox has been in a relationship with musician Johnny McDaid of Snow Patrol since 2013. The couple became engaged in 2014, briefly broke off their engagement, but have remained together since.
