“Mission: Impossible” music theme composer Lalo Schifrin turns 92 today
Boris Claudio “Lalo” Schifrin was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina on June 21, 1932. Pianist, composer, arranger and conductor, Lalo has been a famous name since the 1960’s, when his name started to show on the music credits of popular TV shows such as “Mission: Impossible”. He has composed hundreds of songs, movie and TV scores, including the already mentioned theme for “Mission: Impossible” (perhaps his best well known theme), “The Man from U.N.C.L.E.”, “Planet of the Apes” (TV), “Bullitt”, “Starsky and Hutch”, “Dirty Harry”, “Magnum Force”, “The Amityville Horror” and the theme for the Bruce Lee cult movie “Enter the Dragon”. During his career, Lalo has won five Grammy Awards and received six Oscar nominations. He turns 91 today.
