Duran Duran scores their first U.S No.1 in 1984 with “The Reflex”



“The Reflex” was released in 1984 on Duran Duran’s third album “Seven and the Ragged Tiger”, and as a third single for the album in April 1984, becoming their most successful single worldwide. Backed with the live cuts “Make Me Smile (Come Up and See Me)” and “New Religion”, it became their second single to top the UK Singles Chart, after “Is There Something I Should Know?” in 1983, when it reached No.1 on May 5, 1984. In the U.S, “The Reflex” was Duran Duran’s first No.1; it topped the Hot 100 on June 23, 1984. Written by the band, “The Reflex” remains one of the most memorable songs of Duran Duran, “The Reflex” was composed by Duran Duran and produced by the band, Alex Sadkin and Ian Little.
