The 1980’s hit singer Glenn Medeiros turns 54 today

Glenn Alan Medeiros was born on June 24, 1970, in Lihue, Hawaii. Of Portuguese descent, Medeiros grew up on the island of Kauai, where he was immersed in a culturally diverse environment that included a significant Portuguese community. His heritage played a role in shaping his musical influences and identity.
Medeiros’s big break came in 1986 when, at the age of 16, he won a local radio station’s talent contest with a cover of George Benson’s “Nothing’s Gonna Change My Love for You.” The song was recorded and released independently, eventually catching the attention of major record labels. In 1987, the song was re-released by Amherst Records and became a worldwide hit, reaching number 12 on the Billboard Hot 100 in the United States and topping the charts in several countries, including the United Kingdom.
Following the success of his debut single, Medeiros released his self-titled debut album in 1987, which included the hit “Lonely Won’t Leave Me Alone.” He continued to build on his early success with the release of his second album, “Not Me,” in 1988, featuring the single “Long and Lasting Love.”
One of Medeiros’s most significant career milestones came in 1990 with the release of “She Ain’t Worth It,” a duet with Bobby Brown. The song hit number one on the Billboard Hot 100, cementing Medeiros’s place in pop music history. His third album, also titled “Glenn Medeiros,” included this chart-topping single along with “All I’m Missing Is You,” another popular track.
Medeiros’s music was characterized by his smooth vocals and a blend of pop and R&B influences. His romantic ballads and catchy tunes resonated with a wide audience, making him a beloved figure in the late 1980s and early 1990s pop scene.
As the music industry evolved, Medeiros gradually shifted his focus away from performing. In the late 1990s and early 2000s, he transitioned into education, driven by a desire to make a meaningful impact in his community. He pursued higher education and eventually earned a doctorate in education. Today, Glenn Medeiros is a respected educator and administrator. He serves as the President of Saint Louis School in Honolulu, Hawaii, where he is dedicated to shaping the educational experiences of young students.
While his primary focus is on education, Medeiros has not entirely abandoned his musical roots. He occasionally performs and participates in music-related events, maintaining a connection to the entertainment world that first brought him fame.
Glenn Medeiros is married to Tammy Armstrong, and together they have two children. His family life in Hawaii reflects his deep-rooted connection to his heritage and his commitment to balancing his personal and professional responsibilities. Known for his humility and grounded nature, Medeiros remains a beloved figure both in his local community and among his fans.
