The beautiful and sensual Debbie Harry, lead singer of Blondie, wrote her name in the history of Rock as one of the most charismatic and popular female Rock singers of all time. Born on July 1, 1945, in Miami, Florida, Debbie was initially named Angela Tremble, but was adopted at three months old and later renamed to Deborah Ann Harry. Before beginning her singing career, she moved to New York City in the late 1960’s, where she worked several jobs including secretary at BBC Radio’s office, waitress at Max’s Kansas City, a go-go dancer in a Union City, a New Jersey discothèque, and most famously, a Playboy Bunny.
Harry began her musical career as a backing singer for the folk rock group The Wind in the Willows, which released an eponymous album in 1968, still wearing her natural brunette look, but it was during the 1970’s, With her distinctive photogenic features and two-tone bleached-blonde hair, that she quickly became a punk icon as the lead singer for Blondie. The band had an impressive string of hit singles during the late 1970’s and early 1980’s, which included “Heart Of Glass”, “Call Me”, “One Way Or Another”, “Atomic” and “Rapture”. After disbanding in 1982, Debbie started a solo career, backed by friends such as Andy Warhol. She scored a solo hit in 1986 with “French Kissin’ in the USA”.
