Rod Stewart gets his last UK No.1 in 1983 with “Baby Jane”

During the 1980’s, as many of the 1960’s and 1970’s Rock stars, Rod Stewart increasingly left behind his Blues and Rock in favor of a more modern synth pop sound. The singer had a string of Pop hits during the decade, being one of his biggest “Baby Jane”, released in May 1983 backed with “Ready Now”. The song was written by Stewart and Jay Davis, and featured on the album “Body Wishes”. This was his most successful single since the 1978 Disco smash hit “Do Ya Think I’m Sexy”. It peaked to No. 1 at the UK singles charts on July 2, 1983 and remains to this date the 6th and final UK number one single for Stewart. In the U.S the song also was quite successful peaking at no. 14 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, as well as in several other countries worldwide. Among other Pop hits that Rod Stewart scored during the 1980’s are “Tonight I’m Yours (Don’t Hurt Me)”, “Young Turks”, “Infatuation” and “Some Guys Have All the Luck”.
