In 1987, the 17 year old Glenn Medeiros peaks to No.1 on charts worldwide with the Pop ballad “Nothing’s Gonna Change My Love For You”
Originally recorded in 1984 by George Benson, it wasn’t up until 1987 through the young Glenn Medeiros version that the Pop ballad “Nothing’s Gonna Change My Love For You” became a hit. Medeiros, a 17 year old Portuguese-American from Hawaii, recorded the most memorable version of the song which topped the charts in several countries, including the UK on July 9, 1987, and reached number 12 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100. Medeiros originally released the song on a small independent label at the age of 16, after winning a local radio talent contest in Hawaii. A visiting radio executive from KZZP in Phoenix, Arizona heard the song and took the record back to Phoenix, where it became a national hit and later, international hit. Despite the big popularity he enjoyed from the song, Medeiros career in the music business didn’t last long. He still scored mild hits on collaborations with Bobby Brown ( “She Ain’t Worth It”) and with German singer Thomas Anders from Synth Pop band Modern Talking, but was never able to replicate the 1987 hit. Now 50, Portuguese-American singer abandoned the professional music business during the 1990’s, preferring to invest on his scholar education. In May 2014, Medeiros received his doctorate degree in Education from the University of Southern California and in 2015, Medeiros was appointed Head of School/Principal of St. Louis School, an all boys Catholic (Marianist Order) school in Honolulu Oahu, where he is now its President/CEO since 2017.
