Cheryl Ladd, born Cheryl Jean Stoppelmoor, was born on July 12, 1951, in Huron, South Dakota. Raised in a musical family, Ladd showed an early interest in performing arts. She initially pursued a career in music, which eventually led her to acting.
Ladd moved to Los Angeles in the early 1970s to start her career in entertainment. She began as a singer, providing the singing voice for the character Melody in the animated series “Josie and the Pussycats” (1970-1971). Her musical talent helped her gain recognition, leading to minor acting roles in various TV shows and films.
Cheryl Ladd’s big break came in 1977 when she was cast as Kris Munroe in the hit television series “Charlie’s Angels.” She joined the show in its second season, replacing Farrah Fawcett. Her film roles included “Purple Hearts” (1984) and “Permanent Midnight” (1998).
In addition to her acting, Ladd pursued a music career. She released several albums in the late 1970s and early 1980s, with her debut album, “Cheryl Ladd,” featuring the hit single “Think It Over.”
In recent years she has appeared in various television series and movies, including a recurring role on the series “Las Vegas” (2003-2008) and guest spots on shows like “NCIS” and “Ray Donovan.” She has also embraced roles in Hallmark Channel movies, endearing her to a new generation of fans.
In addition to her on-screen work, Ladd has authored several books, including a children’s book and a memoir titled “Token Chick: A Woman’s Guide to Golfing with the Boys,” reflecting her love for golf.
Cheryl Ladd has been married twice. She was first married to actor David Ladd from 1973 to 1980, with whom she has a daughter, Jordan Ladd, who is also an actress. In 1981, she married music producer Brian Russell, and they have remained together since. Today she celebrates 73.
