Benji Gregory, born Benjamin Gregory Hertzberg, was born on May 26, 1978, in Los Angeles, California. Growing up in the heart of the entertainment industry, Gregory was introduced to acting at an early age, with several family members involved in the business.
Gregory’s most notable role came when he was cast as Brian Tanner on the popular 1980s sitcom “ALF.” The show, which aired from 1986 to 1990, centered around a wisecracking alien living with a suburban family. As Brian Tanner, Gregory charmed audiences with his innocent demeanor and genuine performances, becoming a beloved character on the show. “ALF” was a significant part of Gregory’s early career and provided him with widespread recognition.
Apart from “ALF,” Gregory made guest appearances on several television shows, including “Fantasy Island,” “The A-Team,” “Amazing Stories,” and “T.J. Hooker.” His work as a child actor earned him a place in the hearts of many fans, and he was seen as a promising young talent in Hollywood.
After “ALF” ended, Gregory continued to work in the entertainment industry, although he gradually stepped away from acting. He voiced a character in the animated series “Fantastic Max” and appeared in a few minor roles. However, as he grew older, Gregory chose to pursue a different path.
Gregory joined the U.S. Navy, serving for a number of years and finding a new sense of purpose and direction away from the limelight. He eventually retired from the Navy and chose to live a more private life, staying out of the public eye and the entertainment industry.
His departure from Hollywood allowed him to lead a relatively normal life compared to many former child stars.
Benji Gregory passed away at age 46 on June 13th 2024, he was found dead in his car together with his dog, from a possible heat stroke. RIP.
