Former child and teen actor Corey Feldman turns 53

Corey Scott Feldman was born on July 16, 1971, in Reseda, California. Growing up in a Jewish family, Feldman was introduced to the entertainment industry at a young age by his parents. His father was a musician, and his mother was a cocktail waitress who later became his manager, steering him towards an acting career.
Feldman began his acting career at the tender age of three, appearing in a McDonald’s commercial. His early years were marked by numerous roles in television shows and commercials, but he gained widespread recognition in the 1980s. Feldman became a household name with a string of successful films that defined his career as a child actor.
Some of his most notable early work includes iconic movies like “Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter” (1984), “Gremlins” (1984), “The Goonies” (1985), and “Stand by Me” (1986). These films cemented his reputation as a talented young actor. His role as Edgar Frog in “The Lost Boys” (1987) was particularly memorable and became a cult classic. Feldman continued to collaborate with fellow child actor Corey Haim, and together they were known as “The Two Coreys,” starring in films such as “License to Drive” (1988) and “Dream a Little Dream” (1989).
As he transitioned into adulthood, Feldman faced challenges that many child stars encounter, including struggles with substance abuse and the pressures of maintaining a career in Hollywood. Despite these challenges, he continued to work in the entertainment industry, albeit with less mainstream success than during his peak in the 1980s.
Feldman took on a variety of roles in independent films and made guest appearances on television shows. He also ventured into voice acting, lending his voice to the character of Donatello in the original “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles” animated series. His later film work includes titles like “Bordello of Blood” (1996) and “Dickie Roberts: Former Child Star” (2003).
Feldman has also released several music albums with his band, Corey Feldman & the Angels, showcasing his talents as a musician, despite receiving mixed reviews.
He has also been outspoken about the darker side of Hollywood, particularly regarding child exploitation and abuse. He released a memoir, “Coreyography,” in 2013, detailing his experiences and struggles within the industry. In 2020, he produced a documentary titled “My Truth: The Rape of 2 Coreys,” where he delved deeper into the issues of abuse he and Corey Haim faced as young actors.
Corey Feldman has been married three times and has one son, Zen, from his second marriage to actress and model Susie Sprague. He has been open about his struggles with addiction and his journey towards recovery, becoming an advocate for those facing similar issues.
