The “Supernatural” star Jared Padalecki turns 42 today
Jared Padalecki became in recent years a familiar face for TV fans for his role as Sam Winchester on cult series “Supernatural”. Born Jared Tristan Padalecki on July 19, 1982, in San Antonio, Texas, U.S. He rose to fame in the early 2000’s after appearing on the television series “Gilmore Girls” and in the movies “New York Minute” and “House of Wax”. In 2004, he was cast to play Sam Winchester in one of the two lead roles on “Supernatural” together with co-star Jensen Ackles who plays his brother Dean Winchester in the series. The two actors’ chemistry have played a big factor on the enduring popularity of the show that lasted 15 seasons.
With the show, the pair developed a cult following worldwide for the last decade. Jared is married with Genevieve Cortese since 2010, a former “Supernatural” co-star. They met when Cortese guest starred as Ruby on the show’s fourth season. The couple has appeared on “The French Mistake”, a season 6 episode of “Supernatural” playing their real-life roles in 2011, and resides in Austin, Texas with their three children. In recent years Jared also had other lead roles, including the 2009 version of “Friday the 13th” as Clay Miller, a character who heads out to Camp Crystal Lake in search of his sister who has gone missing. In March 2015, Padalecki launched his Always Keep Fighting campaign through Represent.com. His first campaign raised funds for To Write Love on Her Arms, which supports people struggling with depression, addiction, self-injury, and suicide. During San Diego Comic-Con International 2015, more than 6,000 fans surprised Padalecki at the Supernatural panel by holding up candles for him, after having revealed his battle with depression earlier in the year. Jared turns 42 today.
