The actor Peter Krause celebrates 59 today

Peter Krause was born on August 12, 1965, in Alexandria, Minnesota, USA. He grew up in Roseville, a suburb of St. Paul, where he developed an early interest in acting. Krause attended Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter, Minnesota, where he initially studied pre-med but later switched to English literature. After graduating in 1987, he pursued his passion for acting by earning a Master of Fine Arts degree from New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts in 1990.
Krause began his career in theater and had small roles on television shows in the early 1990s. He appeared in guest roles on popular series like “Seinfeld” and “Beverly Hills, 90210.” His first major television role came in 1996 when he was cast as Casey McCall in the critically acclaimed but short-lived comedy series “Sports Night” (1998-2000), created by Aaron Sorkin. The show brought him recognition for his sharp comedic timing and acting skills.
Peter Krause’s breakthrough role came in 2001 when he was cast as Nate Fisher in the HBO drama series “Six Feet Under.” The show, created by Alan Ball, focused on a family running a funeral home and was praised for its dark humor, complex characters, and exploration of life and death. Krause’s portrayal of the conflicted and introspective Nate earned him widespread acclaim, including nominations for Emmy, Golden Globe, and Screen Actors Guild awards. “Six Feet Under” ran for five seasons, ending in 2005, and remains one of Krause’s most celebrated works.
After Six Feet Under, Krause continued to build on his success with diverse roles in both television and film. He starred in the ABC drama Dirty Sexy Money (2007-2009), playing a lawyer embroiled in the scandals of a wealthy New York family. Although the show was short-lived, Krause’s performance was well-received.
In 2010, Krause returned to network television as Adam Braverman in the NBC drama series “Parenthood.” The show, which focused on the lives of the Braverman family, was praised for its realistic portrayal of family dynamics and relationships. Krause’s role as the responsible, yet often overwhelmed, eldest sibling earned him critical acclaim and further solidified his reputation as a versatile and reliable leading man. “Parenthood” ran for six seasons, concluding in 2015.
Krause continued to work in television, with one of his most recent roles being Bobby Nash, a firefighter captain, in the FOX drama series 9-1-1, which premiered in 2018. The show, created by Ryan Murphy, Brad Falchuk, and Tim Minear, explores the lives of first responders in Los Angeles and has been a commercial success.
Peter Krause has a son, Roman, born in 2001, from a previous relationship. He has been in a relationship with actress Lauren Graham, his co-star on “Parenthood,” since 2010. The couple first met in the late 1990s but began dating while working together on the show. They live together in Los Angeles.
