The actor Kevin Dillon celebrates 59 today
The American actor known for his versatile roles in both film and television, Kevin Dillon, was born on August 19, 1965, in Mamaroneck, New York. Dillon grew up in a family with strong ties to the entertainment industry; his older brother, Matt Dillon, is also a well-known actor. Inspired by his brother’s success, Kevin began pursuing acting in the early 1980s. His breakout role came in 1986 when he was cast as Bunny in Oliver Stone’s critically acclaimed war film Platoon. The film’s success put Dillon on the map as a serious actor, showcasing his ability to portray complex, gritty characters.
Following Platoon, Dillon continued to build his film career with roles in movies such as The Blob (1988) and The Doors (1991), where he played drummer John Densmore. He became known for his intensity and commitment to his roles, often portraying characters with a tough or rebellious edge.
While Dillon found success in film, it was television that brought him his most iconic role. In 2004, he was cast as Johnny “Drama” Chase on the HBO series Entourage. The show, which followed the career of a young movie star and his entourage in Hollywood, became a cultural phenomenon, and Dillon’s portrayal of the often hapless but lovable older brother of the main character became a fan favorite. His performance earned him multiple award nominations, including three Primetime Emmy nominations and a Golden Globe nomination.
Entourage ran for eight seasons, and Dillon reprised his role in the 2015 Entourage movie. The character of Johnny Drama became synonymous with Dillon’s career, allowing him to show his comedic chops and endear himself to a new generation of fans.
Kevin Dillon married actress Jane Stuart in 2006, and the couple has a daughter, Ava, born in 2006. Dillon and Stuart divorced in 2019. He also has a daughter, Amy, from a previous relationship. Dillon has largely kept his personal life private, focusing on his work and raising his family.
