The beautiful Kim Catrall turns 68
Kim Catrall is still best known for her role as Samantha Jones on the HBO comedy series “Sex and the City” between 1998 and 2004, but the actress, born Kim Victoria Cattrall on August 21, 1956, in Liverpool, England, owns a career that started back in the 1970’s when she started to appear on several popular TV Series such as “Columbo” and “Starsky & Hutch”. Her film debut was in Otto Preminger’s 1975 “Rosebud”, and in the 1980’s she came to prominence by starring in several hit movies of the decade including “Ticket to Heaven” (1981), “Porky’s” (1982), “Police Academy” (1984), John Carpenter’s “Big Trouble in Little China” alongside Kurt Russell (1986), “Masquerade” (1988), and The Return of the Musketeers (1989) among many others. In 1987, her lead role in the blockbuster “Mannequin” where she played the iconic mannequin that comes to life, established Catrall as one of the most popular actresses of the decade. Another one of her best-known film roles is that of Lieutenant Valeris in “Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country” (1991) where she assisted in developing the character by designing her own hairstyle and even helped come up with the name. In 1998 she began playing the role of the charismatic character Samantha Jones on the popular comedy series “Sex and the City” and for that she received five Emmy Award nominations and four Golden Globe Award nominations, winning the 2002 Golden Globe for Best Supporting Actress. She reprised the role later in the films “Sex and the City” (2008) and “Sex and the City 2” (2010), but despite the success of the series, films and her character, Catrall has stated she will not reprise the role again. Kim Catrall holds British and Canadian citizenship and in 2011, she denied rumors saying that she had become a US citizen. She’s currently working on the new Netflix series “Glamorous” and her latest film role was in the 2023 comedy “About My Father”. Today the beautiful and talented actress turns 68.
