Canadian actor Jason Priestley turns 55

Jason Priestley became worldwide famous during the early 1990’s when he played the role of Brandon Walsh on the hit TV series “Beverly Hills, 90210”. The actor was born on August 28, 1969, in Vancouver, Canada where he grew up in and developed an early interest in acting. He started his career as a child actor, appearing in commercials and guest roles on Canadian television shows and the movie “Stacey” in 1978. In 1987, he moved to Los Angeles to pursue acting more seriously. His early work included several TV commercials and small roles on some of the most popular 1980’s TV shows including “MacGyver”, “Quantum Leap” and in two episodes of “21 Jump Street”.  but his big break came in 1990 when he was cast as Brandon Walsh on Beverly Hills, 90210.
Beverly Hills, 90210 was a groundbreaking teen drama that became a cultural phenomenon, and Priestley’s portrayal of the earnest and morally upright Brandon Walsh made him a teen idol. The show ran for ten seasons, and Priestley remained one of its central characters for the first nine seasons. His work on the series earned him two Golden Globe nominations and a loyal fanbase.
Beyond acting, Priestley also directed several episodes of Beverly Hills, 90210 and developed a passion for directing that would shape his later career. After leaving the show, he continued to act in various films and television shows, including roles in Tru Calling, Love Monkey, and Call Me Fitz, the latter of which earned him critical acclaim for his portrayal of a morally dubious used-car salesman. His performance in Call Me Fitz earned him several awards, including a Canadian Screen Award. In 1992 he also starred on the Roy Orbison’s music video “I Drover All Night”, solidifying his teen idol image.
Priestley expanded his career into directing and producing, working on projects across film and television. He directed his first feature film, Going the Distance, in 2004 and has directed episodes of popular TV shows such as Private Eyes and Van Helsing. His work behind the camera has been praised for its creativity and attention to detail, showcasing his versatility in the entertainment industry. Aside of his career as an actor he’s very passionate about hockey and race car driving. He started to professionally compete as a race pilot back in the 1990’s and was among the owners of the FAZZT Race Team, which competed in the IndyCar Series in 2010 with Canadian racer Alex Tagliani. He was involved in a serious car accident in 2002 during a practice run for the Indianapolis 500, where he was competing as a race car driver. The crash left him with significant injuries, but he made a remarkable recovery and returned to acting and directing.
Priestley married make-up artist Naomi Lowde in 2005, and the couple has two children, a daughter, Ava Veronica, born in 2007, and a son, Dashiell Orson, born in 2009. They live a relatively private life, balancing family time with their professional commitments. In recent years, Priestly starred (with a lead role) on the TV Series “Raising Expectations” in 2016, and “Private Eyes.”
