Ingrid Bergman was born on August 29, 1915, in Stockholm, Sweden. She was the daughter of a Swedish father, Justus Samuel Bergman, and a German mother, Friedel Adler Bergman. Ingrid’s mother passed away when she was just two years old, and her father died when she was 13. These early losses deeply affected her, but she found solace in acting, a passion she pursued from a young age.
Ingrid Bergman began her acting career in Sweden, where she attended the Royal Dramatic Theatre School in Stockholm. She made her film debut in the Swedish film Munkbrogreven (1935), and her talent quickly gained recognition.
