He is one of the most recognized faces in the big screen and one of our favorite actors. Let’s look at his Top 5 Movies

The Canadian actor, producer, and musician Keanu Reeves was born Keanu Charles Reeves, with “Keanu” meaning “cool breeze over the mountains” in Hawaiian, on September 2, 1964, in Beirut, Lebanon. His American father is from Hawaii, and is of Native Hawaiian, Chinese, English, and Portuguese descent, and his mother, Patricia Taylor, is an English costume designer and performer. Keanu’s early life was marked by frequent moves, living in Australia, New York, and Toronto, where he eventually settled with his mother after his parents’ divorce.
Reeves attended several high schools in Toronto, but he struggled academically due to dyslexia and eventually dropped out. However, he excelled in sports, particularly ice hockey, earning the nickname “The Wall” as a goalie. His passion for acting emerged during this time, leading him to pursue a career in the entertainment industry.
Reeves’ early career began in Canadian television, with roles in shows like “Hangin’ In” and commercials. His breakthrough came in 1989 with the comedy “Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure,” where he played the role of the laid-back and endearing Ted Logan. The film’s success made him a recognizable face and led to a sequel, “Bill & Ted’s Bogus Journey” (1991).
In the 1990s, Reeves established himself as a versatile actor with roles in various genres. In 1991 he starred in the action-packed “Point Break” alongside Patrick Swayze, for which he gained widespread acclaim and the Gus Van Sant’s acclaimed drama “My Own Private Idaho” alongside River Phoenix. Later in 1994 he appeared in the lead role of the cult-classic “Speed,” which solidified his status as a leading man in Hollywood. However, it was his role as Neo in the groundbreaking science fiction film “The Matrix” (1999) that catapulted him to international stardom. The film’s innovative special effects and philosophical depth made it a cultural phenomenon, and Reeves reprised the role in its sequels.
Reeves continued to work steadily in the 2000s, with roles in films like “The Replacements” (2000), “The Lake House” (2006), and “Constantine” (2005). His career saw a resurgence with the 2014 release of “John Wick,” where he portrayed a retired hitman seeking vengeance. The film’s success led to several sequels and positioned Reeves as an action icon.
Despite his fame, Reeves is known for his humility, generosity, and private nature and has faced significant personal losses, including the loss of his close friend River Phoenix in 1993, the stillbirth of his daughter with then-girlfriend Jennifer Syme in 1999, and Syme’s tragic death in 2001. These experiences have shaped his outlook on life and contributed to his reputation as a down-to-earth and compassionate individual.
Outside of acting, Reeves has dabbled in music, playing bass guitar for the band Dogstar in the 1990s. He is also known for his philanthropy, often supporting children’s hospitals and cancer research, though he prefers to keep his charitable efforts low-key. Today he celebrates 60.
