In 1968 Eric Clapton records the lead guitar for The Beatles “While My Guitar Gently Weeps”
On September 6th, 1968, at the EMI Studios in Abbey Road, Eric Clapton records the lead guitar parts for The Beatles “While My Guitar Gently Weeps” to be included in the upcoming Beatles album “The Beatles”, known as “White Album”. A song written by George Harrison where he also did lead vocal, Clapton who at the time was about to begin the Cream farewell tour, was at first reluctant to collaborate with The Beatles, being friends with the band, George Harrison convinced him to do the parts. The session was engineered by future producer Chris Thomas who was working in the album at the request of George Martin. Clapton didn’t want his guitar to sound like “him”, he wanted the guitar to sound more like a “Beatley” sound rather than a “Clapton” sound, in the end the results were achieved, “While My Guitar Gently Weeps” remains a true Rock classic and one of the albums most memorable songs.
